A Message to Our Community

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the upcoming closure of Ganges Indian Cuisine from Saturday 31st of January 2026.

Our restaurant first opened its doors in 1993, founded by my dad, Enam Chowdhury. What started as his dream quickly became our family’s life. From the very beginning, the people of Royal Wootton Bassett welcomed us with open arms, and this town has been our home ever since. Our whole family has grown up here, side by side with this community.

Over the years, we’ve been incredibly blessed. We’ve met so many people who became more than customers — you became family. Some of you have been coming to Ganges since before my brothers were even born. That kind of loyalty and love is something we will never take for granted.

I also want to say thank you for the support you showed us when my dad passed away in 2021. That was the hardest time in our lives, and the way this community stood by us still means more than I can put into words. We genuinely felt like the whole town was behind us, holding us up when we needed it most. I will carry that with me forever.

I want to spend more meaningful time with my family and be present for the moments that matter most as my daughter grows. We have given a great deal of thought to the future of Ganges, and we don’t feel comfortable passing the business into someone else’s hands. For us, Ganges has always been a family-run restaurant, and for that reason, we’ve made the very difficult decision to bring it to a close.

Because of this our last day of service will be Saturday 31st of January 2026.

Until then, we’ll continue to welcome you as we always have, with gratitude and love. If you have any gift vouchers, please make sure to use them by this date.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you — for your support, your kindness, your memories, and your loyalty over the past 30+ years. Ganges was never just a restaurant. It was our family’s home and you were a huge part of that story.
